Brendan Courtney’s We Need To Talk About Dad aired last night – and people had a lot to say about it.
The documentary follows the RTE star and his sister as they assess all the options to try and care for their dad – including remortgaging their houses in order to pay for nursing home care.
After visiting a nursing home, Brendan said “You don’t want to be mean about it, because people work really hard at it, but it is depressing.”
Family: The emotional documentary highlighted a topic many around the world face | RTE
The striking documentary brings up the conversation about the care service in Ireland and how emotional it is to make such a tough decision.
This is highlighted even more as Brendan is seen quite upset as he has to make the decision himself with his family about whether they will care for their father at home or bring him to a home.
The documentary moved many viewers at home and caused even more to think about their own family situation.
Thanks you everyone who helped my family tell our story #WeNeedToTalkAboutDad @RTEOne please @SimonHarrisTD help people have a choice ?
