Pat Kenny's new chat show loses over HALF its viewers on second episode

UTV bosses have defended Pat Kenny’s new show In The Round after a massive drop in ratings for last night’s episode.

The former RTE star’s new chat show was launched last week with the debut episode featuring guest GAA boss Mickey Harte attracting almost 150,000 viewers.

However, the second episode with US space traveller Col Chris Hadfield only attracted an average of 65,600 or just 4.23 per cent of the audience.

But UTV revealed the episode hit a peak of 103,000 watchers and pointed out that viewer feedback has been very positive.

“It’s very early days for this new series but the feedback from our audience about the quality of the programme has been hugely positive which is very encouraging,” Head Of Channel Mary Curtis said.

“With three further episode to run before summer, we look forward to announcing more guests in the very neat future.”
