Love Island bosses ‘planning huge shake-up’ to the series

Love Island bosses are reportedly planning a huge shake-up to the series, as they’re currently looking to film in a new country.

The All Stars series of the dating show ended just last month, and the summer series is set to return in June.

The winter and All Stars series have both been filmed in South Africa, while the summer edition has always been filmed in Mallorca – however, this may not be the case for much longer.

The Mirror has revealed that bosses have been looking at other villa locations for the Islanders to get to know each other – including one in Portugal.

They said: “ITV Studios are scouting out properties for an unconfirmed forthcoming series and are prepared to splash out £20k a week on the right one.”

“‘They’ve got their eye on an incredible sprawling villa in the Algarve that is completely different to their more traditional current abode.”

“It’s circular and really modern, and it’s been used for a French reality show before so it’s well set up for filming.”

However, the upcoming series will still definitely be filmed in Spain.

ITV confirmed: “We look forward to returning to Mallorca and our iconic villa for the forthcoming series of Love Island this summer.”

According to The Sun, the launch night of this summer’s series will be on Monday, June 3.

A source told the news outlet: “Fans will be pleased as it’s just nine weeks away – summer doesn’t start until Love Island is back on TV.”

It is believed that Maya Jama will return to present the show for another series.
