Famous footballer announced as contestant for Strictly Come Dancing 2022

Former Arsenal footballer Tony Adams has been announced as the latest contestant for Strictly Come Dancing 2022.

Taking to his Twitter to announced the news, he wrote: “So… I’m officially swapping my battered old football boots for the ballroom shoes!”

“The lure of the sequins was simply too much! I am thrilled to be a part of the 20th anniversary of [Strictly Come Dancing] this year.. I can’t wait to meet my partner and get dancing #Strictly.”

Tony played with Arsenal in the Premier League from 1992 until 2002.

He will join pop singer Molly Rainford, Ted Lasso star Ellie Taylor, singer Matt Goss, Loose Women panelist Kaye Adams, radio and TV presenter Richie Anderson, soap stars Will Mellor and Kym Marsh, comedian Jayde Adams, Paralympic swimmer Ellie Simmonds, and radio host Tyler West on the upcoming season of Strictly.

The popular BBC series is set to return to our screens next month.
