Ryan Tubridy tipped to return to RTÉ amid payments scandal

Ryan Tubridy is tipped to return to RTÉ, amid the payments scandal.

The broadcaster was plunged into chaos when it was revealed that Ryan’s earnings were publicly understated by €345,000 over the last six years.

The issue was identified during a routine audit of RTÉ’s 2022 accounts, prompting an independent review of the matter.

RTÉ has taken full responsibility for the misstatement of Ryan’s fees, but the presenter has not yet returned to work – and it is not yet known if he ever will.

He hosted his final The Late Late Show in May, and has not hosted his RTÉ Radio 1 Show since before news of the payments controversy broke.

However, 66% of Goss.ie readers revealed in a recent survey that they want Ryan to return to the airwaves and now, BoyleSports are quoting the odds of his return to RTÉ as 1/2.

Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports said: “Our punters are observing Kevin Bakhurst closely and see his refusal to rule anything out as a clear sign Tubridy is still part of the bigger picture at RTÉ.”

“The odds have taken a complete U-turn as a result so we’re now odds-on about Tubs keeping his job.”

It comes after Ryan confessed during his appearance before the Public Accounts Committee last week that he’s been in such a “terrible state” because there’s been “so much misunderstanding” surrounding the scandal.
