Roz Purcell expresses disappointment as Donald Trump’s model agency is set for closure

Roz Purcell has revealed her disappointment that Donald Trump’s model agency, based in New York, is set to close.

The Tipperary native was booked by the now President of the United States’ agency after she caught his eye during the Miss Universe competition, in which she came seventh, back in 2010.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Trump Model Management was set to close its doors. According to a leaked email obtained by Mother Jones, the agency, which was founded in 1999, is telling its business associates “to prepare for its closure”.

Although Trump’s model agency has attracted plenty of controversy, Roz has admitted that she loved being a part of it when she was just 20-years-old.

“They were really nice to work with and, to be honest with you, I think people are just using it as a negative thing, like ‘Oh Trump’s modelling agency has closed down’,” she told the Herald.

“They were really nice. I started reading some of the comments on the story and people were like, ‘Yeah whatever’.

“I thought they were really hard-working women, all of those who were in there. It [the reaction] was because his name was put to it. It probably closed down for totally different reasons,” she said.

In the alleged email, it’s reported that president of Trump Models, Corinne Nicolas, told colleagues that, “The Trump Organization is choosing to exit the modeling industry.

“On the heels of the recent sale of the Miss Universe Organization, the company is choosing to focus on their core businesses in the real estate, golf and hospitality space.”

Roz also added that the model bosses really looked after her when she was living in NYC.

“They were really good. Even the model house I lived in, I’m still friends with all of the girls there.

“It wasn’t in Trump Tower, it was in Tribeca, a really trendy area. It was really nice. They looked after us,” she added.
