Pregnant 2FM presenter Jennifer Maguire has admitted she’s “starting to panic” about trying to survive Christmas without drinking.
The RTE star said she has started to be hit by the “booze itch” and wants to be able to knock back pints over the festive period.
She said: “When I met a friend for a cosy lunch in the Mercantile pub on Dame Street this week, I had an itch that couldn’t be scratched — the booze itch.

“Looking longingly at festive pints, the dread set in. How will I get through Christmas without it? I don’t mean getting plastered before midnight Mass but the cosy glass of wine. Is it even possible to go to a Christmas do without boozing?!”
Republic of Telly star Jennifer ended up being talked down for her need from alcohol – and hopes she’ll be able to keep to the plan even if it is a “challenge”.
But Jennifer added in her Sun column: “If you don’t wanna drink the biggest problem is explaining why. For me it’s easy, a swift point to the bump usually works.

“But there has been more then one replying with, ‘Ah, ya can have one …’ I can’t do ‘one’ — I’m an all or nothing kinda gal.”
And Jennifer revealed she has “insisted on a fancy steak restaurant” for her 2FM morning show’s Christmas party to suit her.
She added: “As you can guess, food’s been my second true love throughout this pregnancy and it makes me very happy to do nothing else but shove it into my gob.”
