Plans to build Katie Taylor statue set for Bray

Plans are underway for a statue to be built in honour of Katie Taylor.

The world champion boxer has arrived home today, after becoming the undisputed lightweight boxing champion of the world.

Katie arrived home to a hero’s welcome in Dublin Airport, with dozens of people cheering her on as she came home.

Now, according to reports, there are plans to erect a statue of the 32-year-old sports star in her home town of Bray.

Bray Councillor Joe Behan said that he wants to erect a statue in Katie’s honour.

“I’d like Katie to be consulted before that because she is a very quiet and modest person. But I think it’s a great idea,” he said.

Katie made history last weekend when she won her fourth consecutive lightweight belt after another win in New York’s Madison Square Garden.
