Markus Feehily admits: 'I have no respect for anyone voting no for marriage equality'

Singer Markus Feehily has hit out at the no campaigners in the marriage equality referendum.

The former Westlife star admitted that although different opinions are good, he could never respect anyone who votes no next month.

“I think different opinions are good in many cases but I can’t, as a gay man who’s excited to see this vote going through and for Ireland to support the Yes side of it.

“Not a fibre of my body could respect any person who campaigns for a No vote. Because the No side isn’t even something I feel is credible enough of an argument to even discuss.

“I think it’s crazy people are making posters and sticking them. I have no respect for the NO camp,” he told Pat Kenny on Newstalk.

The Sligo man who came out 10 years ago said people shouldn’t even need to vote for marriage equality.

“To me it feels strange to even be having a discussion. It feels strange to be even having a vote.

“It should go without saying people are equal, there are equal rights. It’s about love and expressing your love.”
