Louis Walsh says he thought he was ‘finished’ after false sexual assault claims

Louis Walsh has admitted he thought he was “finished” when he was wrongfully accused of sexual harassment in 2011.

The X Factor judge won a case against The Sun newspaper for €500,000, after it was proven Leonard Watters had fabricated a claim against him.

The accuser had claimed Louis had harassed him in a Dublin night club.

In a year that sexual harassment claims have changed Hollywood, and even the Irish showbiz world here, Louis has said no one thought he would win his case.

“I thought I was finished in the business, especially dealing with boy-bands and girl-bands and all that,” he told the Sunday Independent.

“People are going to think that there’s something not right here,” he explained.

The man was later jailed for six months for making the false accusation against the music manager.

“That was the worst thing that ever happened to me in my life,” Louis added.

“Without a doubt. I thought my life was finished. Honestly. I didn’t know. Everybody told me not to fight, that I would never win. Everybody told me that.”
