Laura Whitmore has explained why she hides her daughter’s face online.
The Irish presenter welcomed her first child with her Scottish husband Iain Stirling in 2021, a baby girl who is reportedly named Stevie Ré.
In a new interview with The Irish Independent, Laura revealed why she has kept her daughter out of the public eye.
The Bray native said: “I’d love to be able to put a picture up, but once I do that, that means a pap can stand outside my house and take a picture of my baby and print it.”
“It’s mad. I don’t fully understand it, so I’m better off just keeping it private, but it’s so hard because that’s all my camera roll is. Then you get comments saying, ‘Where’s your baby? You’re never with your baby!’ I’m like, ‘I’m always with my baby, I just don’t post it’.”
Speaking about keeping her public life private, despite being in the limelight, Laura went on to say: “The boundaries are blurred. I remember when I got pregnant and was working on a show where they thought they could have every part of me.”
Laura, who married Iain in Dublin in 2020, clarified: “That being Love Island. I remember after my husband and I got married – which we did privately – there was some comment from some publication saying, ‘How dare they when they work on that show?’”
The mum-of-one admitted she no longer puts up with the invasion of privacy.
She said: “I have a lovely life, but I will also call out the s**t, because I hope I’ll be able to continue to do this for years and it will get better and I’ll have more power. I’ve definitely got more power now than I did 10 years ago in this industry.”
