TV star Kathryn Thomas has told of her terror at having her home broken into – and a knife left on her bed by the intruders.
The RTE presenter came home to discover her home ransacked three years ago, with everything from laptops to jewellery stolen.
She said: “It is the most frightening feeling to walk into your home and see everything in absolute disarray. My two dogs were only puppies at the time and I could hear them whimpering.

“Once I had checked that they were unharmed, I started to investigate the state of the place around me. Cupboard doors and drawers flung open, glass all over the floor.
“The thought of someone in my personal space, in my private home, in the one place where you are meant to feel safe left me feeling sick.
“They took all my jewellery, two laptops, cameras, and all my bank statements. They had also carried two knives upstairs, once which was left on my pillow.”

And Kathryn admits she feels lucky not to have come face-to-face with the thugs.
She said: “I cannot imagine what it must be like to come face-to-face with an intruder in your home.”
The Voice star added in her Star column that “the guards were absolutely brilliant and managed to recover most of what was taken”.
She added: “I grew up in a house where the back door was never locked. That is certainly not the case today.”
