Irish singer RuthAnne reveals the inspiration behind Molly-Mae Hague’s favourite song The Vow

RuthAnne Cunningham has revealed the inspiration behind her song The Vow.

The track is a favourite of Love Island couple Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury.

It started climbing the charts once again when it played a key role in the fan-favourite couple’s lavish engagement on July 23.

RuthAnne has revealed that inspiration for the song struck her while she was staying at a pal’s house.

The Donaghmede native said: “I woke up, I think, from a dream at 5 in the morning, and wrote all the lyrics down on my phone.”

“I went back to sleep, woke up, looked at the lyrics, and I was like, ‘Oh, that could be something.'”

Molly-Mae and Tommy, who met on Love Island in 2019, got engaged in Ibiza on Sunday evening – just six months after they welcomed their daughter Bambi.

As the professional boxer got down on one knee, Grammy-nominated artist RuthAnne sang her hit song The Vow for them live.

Since then, The Vow has shot to the top of the Irish charts on iTunes, and made its way up to number 2 in the UK charts.

While the song was originally released five years ago, it’s now seen a huge surge in popularity.

The Vow has always had a special place in Molly-Mae and Tommy’s hearts, as it was played during the finale of their journey on Love Island back in 2019.

The couple announced their engagement by sharing a black-and-white video of the moment Tommy proposed last month.

Molly-Mae, who looked stunning in a white jumpsuit, broke down in tears when she saw her beau standing by a cliff, surrounded by white flowers and holding their daughter.

The 24-year-old then handed Bambi to Molly-Mae, got down on one knee and asked his longtime love to marry him.
