'I'm really excited to use the word FIANCE' – Susan Loughnane on being engaged

Susan Loughnane has opened up for the first time about her engagement.

The Love/Hate star has said she was in “total shock” when her boyfriend of ten years David Doyle asked her to marry him.

The Clare man popped the question in New York, and now Susan has said she is over the moon.

“It was a total shock to me but I’m over the moon,” she admitted.

“Getting so many sweet comments made it all even more exciting. The engagement is still ‘pending’ on my (Facebook) profile meaning I think he hasn’t approved it.

“So perhaps it was all a joke or he’s having second thoughts. But lets hope not, and thanks a million anyway folks. I’m very excited to use the novel new word ‘fiancé’ for awhile,” she wrote on her Facebook page.

While Susan and David celebrated the news in New York, the actress and her husband to be called their families from the Big Apple to share the news.

“Engagement celebrations with the parents emigrant style,” Susan wrote on Twitter.

The Love/Hate star announced the news this week by sharing a photo of her engagement ring.
