Fans and colleagues pay tribute to Gerry Ryan seven years after his death

Fans, friends and colleagues have paid tribute to the late Gerry Ryan today.

It’s been seven years since the broadcasting legend sadly passed away, and people still can’t believe he’s gone.

The RTÉ 2fm host, who presented The Gerry Ryan Show every weekday morning from 1988, died suddenly at his apartment in Leeson Street in April 2010, aged just 53.

Taking to social media today, many have paid tribute to the “wonderful” Gerry:

Thinking of Gerry Ryan, 7 years gone today. My first radio gig was as reporter/researcher on his show. He was so fantastic to work with and so generous. Always available to give advice and feedback to a rookie. Have never laughed as much on any gig since – the post show briefings were a hoot everyday! I Find myself quoting him or referencing his work almost every other day in 2fm. He set the bar in Irish broadcasting and is missed by so many people.
