Conor McGregor set to join the cast of Game of Thrones

Conor McGregor could be set to join the cast of Game of Thrones.

The MMA star is set to take some time off from the Octagon next year as he’s set to become a father for the first time, and it looks like he could try his hand at acting next.

According to reports, Conor has been in talks with HBO bosses to star on the show, which is filmed mainly in Belfast.

A source told Northern Irish newspaper Sunday Life, “It’s been agreed that McGregor will appear in one of the remaining two seasons of Game of Thrones.

New gig: Conor previously starred in a Call of Duty video game

“He was headhunted as it were by HBO, as one of the Game of Thrones directors is a huge UFC fan. They believed that he would be a perfect fit for the show.”

The 28-year-old, who previously starred in a popular Call of Duty video game, is already close pals with Iceland native Hafpor Julius Bjornsson, who plays The Mountain in the popular fantasy series.

The news comes after it was revealed that the Crumlin native has obtained a boxing license, which has fuelled rumours that he’s set to fight retired boxer Floyd Mayweather.
