Brian Kennedy has told how he was forced to “explain” he hadn’t been caught in a tryst with Ronan Keating.
The Eurovision star infamously had been rumoured to have been caught with the Boyzone star by his then wife Yvonne Keating.
But the former Voice coach, 48, insists there’s no way he would have been with Ronan after coming out – as he’s “not my type”.
“Then there was all that Ronan Keating malarkey in the ‘90s, so I had to ring up certain people and explain things,” he said.

“If they knew me at all, they would know the kind of men I like, and while Ronan is a lovely man and we’re good friends, he’s not my type.”
The Put The Message In A Box singer jokes that “maybe” he would be into Keith Duffy – before admitting he probably wouldn’t be his type either.
“I have never had long-term relationships, but I’m happy out. I have amazing friends and when you’re not close to your family, it’s important to have friends,” he told the Irish Independent.
“I am typical of a lot of gay men my age. We go into the world and make our own family because sometimes birth families can reject you.”

And Brian says that he never sees his parents or other siblings at all.
“It split us apart. I am only close to one brother, Stuart, and it’s just the way the cards have fallen. In some families, it is very clear there are favourites and I wasn’t that guy,” he said.
“I was difficult too because I was bright, so I challenged people and questioned my parents. I imagine I was very annoying. I never see my parents or other siblings at all, to be honest.
“There is no joy in not having a relationship with your family, but I am so used to it now. I don’t know anything else.”
