Angela Scanlon branded ‘insensitive’ for a comment she made on The One Show

Angela Scanlon has been branded “insensitive”, after making an innocent comment about peanut allergies on The One Show.

The flame-haired beauty is currently standing in for The One Show host Alex Jones on Thursdays and Fridays as she takes her maternity leave, and she’s gone down a hit with viewers so far – until last night.

Alongside presenter Matt Baker, the pair were chatting to Death in Paradise stars Don Warrington and Kris Marshall, and during their conversation, they were asked to try and solve a fictional crime, as they play police men in their latest movie.

According to The Sun, the fictional crime was, “Two friends eat dinner together. They both ordered iced tea. One drank fast and downed five iced teas in the time it took the other one to drink just one.

“The diner who drank one died while the other one who drank five survived.

“All of the drinks were poisoned. So the question is why did the diner who only drank one iced tea die?”

After Matt read out the fictional crime scenario, Angela asked, “Was it a peanut allergy? It’s always a peanut allergy.”

Although Angela clearly meant no offence, a number of angry viewers took to Twitter to brand the presenter as “insensitive”.
