Ray D'Arcy was worth a massive €3 MILLION to Today FM before move back to RTE

Ray D’Arcy was worth a mammoth €3 million to Today FM – and was their most valuable star.

The Kildare broadcaster brought in the money to the station through advertising revenue, industry sources have revealed.

Now his decision to leave the station and move back to RTE could leave them with a massive loss of cash.

It is understood that Today FM has a total of €17 million in advertising revenues a year, meaning Ray made up a huge chunk of it.

He was able to offer 10 minutes an hour of prime advertising slots on his three hour programme.

Currently, Today FM brings in half its ad revenue from just three shows – Ian Dempsey, Matt Cooper and Ray D’Arcy.

He will be taking over Derek Mooney’s slot at RTE Radio 1, as part of a plan to refresh the station.
