Sinead O'Connor was 'disgusted' when audience turned on troubled Amanda Bynes

Sinead O’Connor has admitted she was shocked when her audience started mocking Amanda Bynes.

The Nothing Compares 2 U singer was previously compared to the troubled star during her ongoing feud with Miley Cyrus.

But the 47-year-old – who has been extremely open about her own mental health issues – was heartbroken when her audience turned on Amanda after dedicating a song to her.

She said: “Bit of a weird one on Monday night when I dedicated Harbour to Amanda Bynes. My audience laughed kind of mockingly, as if we were all gonna join in some slagging of her.

Annoyed: Sinead expected her audience to support Amanda

“The very reason I was dedicating the song to her is I don’t like how the media treat her and other sufferers of mental illness. If people with physical illnesses were treated the same way, there’d be uproar.

“It’s disgusting. and also criminal, because it makes other sufferers not seek help for fear of being abused. Thats how people die.

“Anyway, I was shocked that my own audience would have thought I meant to mock Amanda, when I meant the very opposite.”

It comes after Sinead revealed yesterday she had given up on finding a man, and was now pinning her hopes on getting a female lover.
