Global superstar ‘in talks’ to headline Glastonbury after negotiations with Stevie Wonder broke down

This global superstar is said to be “in talks” to headline Glastonbury after negotiations with Stevie Wonder broke down.

Rihanna is rumoured to take to the Pyramid stage as the Sunday night headline act.

The Stay singer is the Bookies favourite but Bruce Springsteen and Eminem are also in the mix.

Neil Roarty, a spokesperson for betideas.com told The Sun: “There seems to have been another dramatic twist in our long search for a Sunday night headliner, with Rihanna the latest name on everyone’s lips.”

“Stevie Wonder was the previous favourite in the betting but has drifted out to 14/1 after talks reportedly broke down with festival organisers, with Rihanna now the 7/2 favourite.”

“Other notable selections in the market include Bruce Springsteen at 5/1, with Eminem (11/2) and Cher (8/1) also now contenders,” he concluded.

Rihanna has been approached to perform at Worthy Farm many times, one of which was after her hugely successful SuperBowl Halftime show.

The singer was reportedly “approached about Glastonbury” by organisers Emily Eavis and her father Michael.

However, Rihanna had to withdraw from negotiations as she was pregnant with her second child with rapper ASAP Rocky.

If Rihanna accepts their offer she would be in good company as Coldplay and Dua Lipa are also rumoured to be taking to the stage at the famous farm in Somerset.

Stevie Wonder is not the only musician that Glastonbury failed to get as talks with Madonna are rumoured to also have fallen through.

Sources previously revealed that the festival was unable to book Madonna as they refused to pay the fee to bring her live show to the festival.

A Glastonbury source told the Daily Mail: “To be honest it’s been a real blow not being able to nail down a deal with Madonna.”

“Emily was so keen to have her play the legend slot. After she saw Madonna’s tour in London in October she raved about her on Instagram, something she rarely does without Glastonbury in mind.”

“But everyone knows that after last year, and the criticism over the gender balance, we’ve got to have big name females heading the line-up. Dua Lipa is a real catch. Now we need another.”

“There is still some hope it can be resurrected but it’s pretty unlikely. There are money issues at the root of this, it’s a real shame,” the source concluded.

The highly-anticipated festival is set to take place between Wednesday, June 26th to Sunday, June 30, 2024.
