Electric Picnic organisers respond to rumours of festival cancellation

Over the past few weeks, social media has been filled with rumours that Electric Picnic may not go ahead this year.

Rumours started circulating as organisers have not yet released the lineup for the 2024 festival.

The delay has worried fans, given the event is taking place two weeks earlier than usual this year, and the lineup is typically out by now.

However, the festival organisers have insisted it will “of course” go ahead this year, and teased the lineup will be announced “soon enough”.

Electric Picnic is set to take place between Friday, August 16th, to Sunday, August 18th 2024 – two weeks earlier than usual.

The three-day festival is celebrating its 20th year in business this summer, making it an extra special affair.

As the line-up has not yet been announced and refugees are currently living on the festival’s grounds, fans feared the sold-out music festival had been scrapped.

However, a spokesperson for the festival has since told The Leinster Express: “Of course, it’s going ahead. We released the lineup late April last year also.”

The line-up is usually announced in March, but last year the full line-up wasn’t announced until late April.

However, in December 2022, 10 artists were announced for the 2023 festival – including two of the top headliners Billie Eilish and Fred Again.

Tickets for the 2024 festival are sold out.
