Lenny Abrahamson reveals new movie was a 'challenge'

Lenny Abrahamson has opened up about his movie adaptation of the Emma Donoghue novel Room – admitting it was challenging.

The Irish director has just finished work on the production, which tells the story of a mother and son held captive in a tiny room.

“It’s always a challenge to bring a book to the screen because some things translate and some things don’t,” he said.

Speaking to Marian Finucane on RTE Radio 1, the acclaimed director, known for lowbudget film such as Garage, revealed he worked on an advert that had double the budget then his famed flick Adam and Paul.

“Before Adam and Paul I did a Carlsberg ad, I’d say the cost of that 60 seconds was about double the cost of Adam and Paul.”

The trailer for his new project Room, which will hit cinemas in Autumn, was released earlier this week.
