Jamie Dornan 'still gets angry' after mum died of pancreatic cancer when he was a teen

Fifty Shades star Jamie Dornan has told how he still gets angry after his mum died of pancreatic cancer when he was a teen.

The Holywood actor says his outlook on life was utterly changed forever after nurse Lorna passed away from the illness.

“There’s no easy time to lose a parent. But it’s a very transitional time being that age and at a very impressionable time. It was a horrific period in my life,” he said.

“It is an unimaginably horrible thing to happen to you when you are 16. I was at an impressionable age and was naive.

“I was angry at the start and I still get angry now sometimes. But my dad helped me get a perspective.

“My mum’s death made me more accepting of things but the enormity of it still hits me in waves.”

The Fall star was then raised by his dad Jim, who previously admitted it was tough knowing for months that his wife would inevitably die.

Heartbroken: Jamie had 14 months of hell

He said: “The whole family was totally devastated. It was important the kids had hope so that whatever time left was positive but I had to be realistic with them about something I knew was inevitable.”

And the 32-year-old was hit with another blow just over a year later, when four school pals died in a car accident in Donegal.

They were travelling to a holiday home, which was owned by one of their parents – with a nine-year-old boy also killed.

He said: “The year after my mum died, four of my best friends were killed in a car crash in Donegal. So I got 14 months of dreadful things thrown at me.”
