Hollywood producer has his eye on Ireland for new sci-fi film

Hollywood producer Philip Lee, who worked on box office hit The Dark Knight, has visited Ireland to scout locations to shoot his next blockbuster.

The American producer has visited Limerick in recent weeks ahead of filming a new $120 million sci-fi flick Inversion which is due to hit cinemas in 2016.

Need for Speed director Scott Waugh has been touted to be at the helm of the project and the film will look at the threat to life on earth if the planet were to lose its gravity.

According to the Irish Independent, the production team want to transform the former Dell premises in Limerick  into a film studio.

Innovate Limerick, a public-private partnership, is said to be close to closing a deal to purchase the 340,000sq ft building at Plassey Technological Park.

A spokesperson for the local authority said discussions to purchase the building are at a “delicate stage”.
