Good news for fans of Harry Potter as TV show on ‘The Boy Who Lived’ is in the works

Good news for fans of Harry Potter as a new TV show on “The Boy Who Lived” is in the works.

Warner Bros has reportedly set $2 billion aside to film ten series of the show at its studios in Leavesden, Herts.

The budget is reported to be roughly $200 million per series, which brings it up to par with the House Of The Dragon series which was also filmed on the Warner Bros lot.

In April last year, the company confirmed plans for the series and revealed they would like to begin filming later this year or early 2025.

Sources have claimed that these timelines will go ahead if they can cast quickly and settle on scripts relatively fast.

The plan said to be to produce ten consecutive years of Harry Potter TV shows.

Currently, there are boatloads of writers, including JK Rowling herself contending for the coveted gig.

The writers have reportedly all been asked to present their visions of the show to the board.

A reported top contender for the role is Killing Eve writer and producer Francesca Gardiner.

HBO CEO Casey Bloys has promised fans of the franchise that it will be a “faithful adaptation” of the show which will “dive deep into each of the iconic books that fans have continued to enjoy for all of these years.”

Warner Bros CEO David Zaslav added: “We haven’t done anything with Harry Potter for more than a decade,”

“When you put those franchises in, it’s the best-performing studio in the world. We need to deploy our best capital with the best creative people in the world,” he concluded.

The films of the iconic books were a huge success and grossed nearly $8 billion worldwide.

The movies catapulted their young leads Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint into the spotlight and they have maintained their strong fandom since the final film was released in 2011.

JK Rowling and literary agent Neil Blair will be executive producers on the TV show via their Bronte Film and TV company.
