Nicole Richie accidentally set her hair on fire at her 40th birthday party.
The TV personality was celebrating with her friends and family when the incident occurred.
As she leaned over her birthday cake to blow out her candles her hair caught fire, leading her to shriek in panic.

In the video posted to Instagram, the flames can be seen engulfing her hair further as she desperately tried to put them out.
She lightheartedly joked about the incident, captioning the post: “Well… so far 40 is 🔥.”
Her husband Joel Madden was also able to joke about the scary event, commenting: “that’s hot.”
A number of other friends and family also commented witty jokes.
Laura Anderson said: “That’s hot,” while Benji Madden wrote: “stay lit.”
