Kris Jenner has weighed in on Kanye West’s controversial comments that saw him call slavery “a choice” in a TMZ interview.
The rapper faced considerable backlash during the interview and after with former fans going so far as t start a petition to have Adidas disassociate from him.
Kanye’s mother-in-law appeared on The Ellen Show and defended the Stronger singer.
She believes he had “good intentions” when making the comments but fans and fellow famous African-American artists won’t easily forgive equating their difficult history to a “choice”.
Clarifying what her son-in-law meant she said, “Kanye has a lot of love for all of you, all of his fans and everybody that’s been there to support him forever! And I know that he will explain himself in his own way and I think that anything he does, and I think this is important to say is, he always does things with really good intentions.”
“So I’m going to let him explain himself when the time’s ready and I just keep rolling on… trying to keep up with the Kardashians!” she finished because stating that even she struggles to keep up with the family’s drama.
Kris also denied orchestrating the drama the family experience when the TV host remarked that you couldn’t write this stuff and Kris agreed succinctly saying, “No.”
