Jay-Z has opened up about mending his marriage to Beyoncé, after admitting to being unfaithful.

The rapper apologised to his famous wife for his infidelity on his latest album 4:44, after Beyoncé alluded to his cheating on her last album, Lemonade.

Speaking on The Van Hones Show on CNN, Jay spoke about his marriage to Beyoncé, and fighting to make their relationship work.

“It’s my soul mate, it’s the person I love,” he said.

“You can love someone but if you haven’t experienced love, and you don’t understand it and you don’t have the tools to move forward, then you’re going to have complications and you can either address it or you can pretend until until it blows up at some point.

“For us, we chose to fight for our love. For our family. To give our kids a different outcome. To break that cycle for black men and women.

“We were never a celebrity couple, we were a couple that happened to be celebrities. We are real people,” he added.

The couple are parents to their six-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy, and twins Rumi and Sir, who they welcomed in June 2017.

Jay also spoke about the Time’s Up and #MeToo movement, and said, “I believe everything happens for a reason, everything is a learning experience, the good, bad and ugly.”

“This had to happen to purge itself. For men who have been in positions for so long, if you’re in that position of power, to abuse that power, you get drunk off success. It’s human nature if you go unchecked. It takes a really special person to have that sort of power and not wield it in the wrong way.

“It has to happen, this movement and everything that is going on and what we are finding out, it’s like everything else, it’s like racisim, it existed the whole time. It’s almost like we normalised it, the normalisation of the things we have to do to survive,” he continued.

“For women to go to work knowing that this sort of abuse was happening every day, you can look logically and say, ‘Why would you stay there?’

“What is the alternative? You have to survive in America. In order to survive you have to normalise it. So for it to get uncovered and the world to correct itself, this is what has to happen,” he added.
