Gigi Hadid released after being ‘arrested’ in the Cayman Islands

Gigi Hadid was reportedly arrested in the Cayman Islands for travelling with marijuana last week, which she purchased legally in New York.

According to E! News, the model was stopped by officials at Owen Roberts International Airport on July 10.

It’s understood Gigi and a friend had arrived via a private jet, before officials allegedly found “ganja and utensils used for the consumption of ganja” in their luggage.

The story was originally reported by local outlet Cayman Marl Road.

According to the publication, the pair were arrested on “suspicion Importation of Ganja and Importation of Utensils used for the consumption of ganja”.

Then on July 12, Gigi and her friend allegedly appeared in court, where they pleaded guilty and were both fined $1,000.

The model’s rep has since told E! News: “Gigi was traveling with marijuana purchased legally in NYC with a medical license.”

“It has also been legal for medical use in Grand Cayman since 2017. Her record remains clear and she enjoyed the rest of her time on the island.”

The 28-year-old shared photos from her girls trip to the Cayman Islands last week, two days after she would have appeared in court.
