Amber Heard leaves awards gala early due to ‘serious emergency’

Amber Heard suffered a “serious emergency” that caused her to leave an event early over the weekend.

The actress was due to receive an award from Ayaan Hirsi Ali for her charity work at the American Civil Liberties Union’s Unite4:Humanity gala on Friday.

However she departed through a side door after appearing “distressed and uncomfortable” inside the bash, according to E! News.

“Our dear friend Amber unfortunately suffered a bit of an emergency earlier this evening and she had to go,” iO Tillett Wright, who accepted the award with Cara Delevingne on Amber’s behalf, told the audience.

“And I want to also say that I’ve never seen Amber nervous and I’ve known her quite intimately for a long time. And she’s met pretty much everyone that you could be starstruck by.

“But Ayaan Hirsi Ali is as close to God as you could get for her, so to know that Ayaan was here and for her to have to leave anyway means that it was a very serious emergency. We both are hoping that she’s okay.”

While Amber didn’t reveal what the emergency was, she shared photos from the gala on Sunday and said she wished she could have stayed.

“Humbled and honored to be recognized by the ACLU and to have had the chance to spend part of my night alongside such incredible people at the #unite4good #unite4humanity gala,” she wrote.

“Thank you to the unbelievable heart, mind, and will that is Ayaan Hirsi Ali for presenting. I wish I could have stayed for the entire event. Last but not least, thank you to everyone for all the love and support.”

Amber promised to donate the $7million in settlement money she received in her divorce from Johnny Depp to both the ACLU and the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
