PICS: Rosanna Davison launches the 2016 Huawei Snapys

Rosanna Davison stepped out to launch the second Huawei Snapys awards yesterday.

Last year’s inaugural Snapys was hugely popular with over 38,000 entries, which was no surprise considering Ireland has more Instagram users per capita than the USA and the UK.

We are huge Niall Horan lovers in Goss HQ, so we were more than to discover that he is the most followed Irish person in the world -with 17.1 million followers.

Ireland ranks fourth in Europe in terms of total Instagrammers, with Irish users using fewer filters than UK and USA.

Irish Instagrammers have uploaded over 5 million pictures with the hashtag #Dublin, with The Spire on O’Connell Street being Dublin’s top intagrammed image.

This year’s Snapy awards ceremony will be held in Dublin’s Mansion House on Thursday 17thNovember – and there will be a very special prize for the overall winner.

Top Instagrammer, author and model Rosanna Davison launched the call out for entries yesterday for the Huawei Snapys 2016.

The Snapys was founded by Conor Lynch and his team of Instagrammers at Connector as a competition and awards platform for the Irish Instagram community.

The competition, sponsored by Huawei, is inspired by its P9 which was launched in April this year.

The Huawei P9’s Leica dual lens camera offers a professional camera experience and quality with its professional mode, wide aperture affects and capturing brilliant colour and striking black and white images. It has taken the Smartphone world by storm with the incredible quality and clarity of its pictures.

Last year’s winners are already making a career out of their Instagram presence. The 2015 overall winner Sam McAllister, who became a Huawei Ambassador, is in the process of launching his watch brand ‘Stem Watches’, and continues to work as a sports and travel photographer.

Huawei want to harness any talent out there offering a platform to promote future careers.

Lawson Mpame, last years Fashion category winner, has gone on to work with brands such as Tommy Hilfiger, Louis Copeland and Lush.

With 16 categories to choose from and over €10,000 in prizes up for grabs, Goss.ie are proud to be sponsoring the Fashion category of the Huawei Snapys.
