Jim Carrey slams ‘outrageous’ claims that he gave ex Cathriona White STDs

Jim Carrey’s lawyer has slammed claims that he gave his late ex-girlfriend Cathriona White an STD, before she committed suicide last year.

A lawsuit filed by Mark Burton, the estranged husband of Cathriona, was amended on Thursday to include the allegation that the make-up artitst was suicidal because she had sexually transmitted diseases – that she allegedly contracted from Jim.

Cathriona was found dead in September 2015, after overdosing on multiple opioids at her home in LA.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Carrey’s lawyer Marty Singer said Mark Burton’s allegations are “a desperate, bogus claim made by the ‘husband’ of the sham marriage.”

“The conduct of the parties confirms that the allegations will be proven false. Significantly, the alleged text messages referred to were sent in 2013, yet in November of 2014, Ms. White sought out my client and asked him to continue a serious relationship.

“If he had engaged in the alleged horrible conduct, why would she reach out and request that they continue to stay together? In fact, they were even working out a cohabitation agreement, as they were living together for the most part up until her death,” Singer told The Mirror.

Mark claims that Cathriona exchanged text messages with Jim about STDs in February 2013, and that she had tested positive for Herpes Type I, Herpes Type 2 and Gonorrhea – and alleged that Jim told her to stay quiet.

The lawsuit also claims that Jim supplied Cathriona with drugs under a fake name – but now Jim’s lawyers has stated that Cathriona, in fact, “stole” them from the actor.

“Jim never supplied his prescription medications to Ms. White. Ms. White stole his prescription medications from him.

“Significantly, my client’s prescriptions were legally obtained medications that were prescribed to him by his doctor in accordance with routine practices that are used all the time, and which are regularly used by SAG members and others with the knowledge of their doctors and insurers, to protect the privacy of well-known individuals.”

After Mark Burton’s lawsuit claimed that Jim used his “immense wealth and celebrity status to illegally obtain and distribute highly addictive” drugs to Cathriona under the name Arthur King – Jim’s lawyer has insisted that Mark is attempting to “cash in” on his ex-wife’s tragic death.

“It is despicable that Burton, who claims to have been Ms. White’s husband but never lived with her and did not even reside in the same state she did, now comes forward trying to cash in on her death.

“We are confident that the court will see through this abhorrent money-grab scheme,” he added.
