Liam Neeson keen to get back on stage to do 'something he's never done'

Liam Neeson has revealed that he’s interested in getting back on stage in the theatre to do ‘something he’s never done.’

The Ballymena native is set to make his return to the stage where it all began for him, as he joined the Lyric Players’ Theatre in Belfast for two years back in 1976 before he turned his attention to on-screen acting.

Liam told HuffPostUK that he wants to go back to his stage roots, but only if a “new voice, a brand new writer” could offer him something that intrigued him.

“[I’d like to do] Something I’ve never done, a brand new writer with something to say,” he said.

When the Taken star is warned of a sudden surge of offers from playwrights once the interview is published, he seems perfectly okay with it by saying, “Bring it on.”

Liam’s latest film project is ‘A Christmas Star’, Ireland and Northern Ireland’s very first Christmas feature film, in which he narrates the festive flick which stars an A-list cast including Kylie Minogue and Pierce Brosnan.

The film tells the story of Noelle, a spirited little girl with secret powers, and is the latest offering of Cinemagic, a Belfast-based children’s charity intent on giving youths from both sides of the border the chance to participate in something creative.

According to Liam, this is an opportunity for him to give back and to balance what he calls his own poor working class background to a place in Hollywood where his “dreams have come true”.

“I’ve been very very fortunate, coming from a working class, quite a poor family. It’s just paying back. It’s keeping the balance,” he added.
