Colette Fitzpatrick opens up on motherhood: 'Nothing will drive you further apart from your partner than a baby'

Colette Fitzpatrick has revealed that there is nothing that will drive couples further apart than having kids.

The TV3 star is mum to son Milo and daughter Olivia and admitted that couples need to work hard when they become parents because it tests the relationship.

“We certainly did the ‘who is more tired than the other person’, with night time feeds and all that. It does make you grow stronger as a couple but it also tests your relationship,” she said.

“I laugh at the notion when people are having relationship difficulties and they think a baby will solve it, there is nothing that will drive you further apart than a baby I can tell you because it is a stressful situation.”

“All round it has brought us closer together, we have seen all sides of each other, literally and mentally,” she told RSVP Magazine.

“It is great but he is on the same page as me, we have our little family and we are done and dusted.”

“I am done. I am 40 and I am done,” she admitted.

“I think, when you are my age, with two healthy children, you feel blessed,” she added.

While, Colette never planned on having kids, she’s loved being a mum.

“I never had this huge longing to have a child, you hear other woman saying from their early 20’s they wanted to have a baby but I never had that,” she said.

“I got pregnant without a problem and it was all easy and straight forward but we are delighted with the two, one of each, all the boxes ticked.”
