Play on! Dara O'Briain set for new gaming show

2016 looks to be a busy year for Dara O’Briain as he has been announced as the host for a new game show on Dave called Go 8 Bit.

The show will see the 44-year-old comedian alongside a host of celebrities who battle it out against each other on classic and contemporary games such as Pac-Man and Grand Theft Auto – with Dara admitting it’s a dream job.

”Put a video game controller in the hands of a nun and she’ll turn into a trash-talking bloodthirsty monster,” he said.

“Give a controller to a comedian and they’ll do that too, but be funny. In video games veritas, my friends.

“This show is a raucous, back-biting, properly competitive celebration of the world’s favourite pastime,” he added.

Based on the stage show of the same name, Kildare native Dara will front the programme alongside gaming expert Ellie Gibson with team captains Steve McNeil and Sam Pamphilon.

The news comes after the Irish star was revealed as the new presenter of Robot Wars alongside Angela Scanlon.
