2FM star Lottie Ryan: 'I want a long career in broadcasting – just like my dad'

Lottie Ryan has revealed she’s hoping for a long career in radio.

The daughter of the legendary Gerry Ryan has her own weekend show on 2FM, The Early, Early Breakfast Show and admitted she is focused on growing her audience.

“I think everybody wants a more high-profile show than the one they have,” she said.

“It’s only natural to be ambitious but for now I am focusing on what I have. I want a long career in broadcasting but I’m not setting any target, I’m living in the here and now,” she told the Irish Sun.

Opening up about her famous father, Lottie said it was tough dealing with his death when her family were constantly in the limelight.

“Going through that wasn’t very pleasant, as we had a huge amount of attention during what would be a very private time for a family.

“But I have never known anything different because I grew up as Gerry Ryan’s daughter. It really didn’t matter in school as I had a great bunch of friends, I only noticed people became aware of it in college.

“What did it mean though only I got good seats at concerts? “Being asked about your late dad in interviews is not something that will ever come naturally to me in interviews but I can definitely deal with it better now.

“I think it’s something to do with having my own programme and being confident in what I’m doing,” she explained.
