Britney Spears and Sam Asghari have split up after six years together.
TMZ broke the news on August 16, reporting that the couple had separated after a major argument broke out between them, just 14 months after they tied the knot.
The outlet later reported that Sam had filed paperwork to legally separate from Britney on August 16, after a year of marriage.

2016
Britney and Sam first met in 2016, when he played her love interest in the music video for her track Slumber Party.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight about how they met, Sam said: “My first [music video] was ‘Work From Home’ from Fifth Harmony, and now Britney Spears, the Princess of Pop, is calling me wanting me to play the love interest of [her music video],” he excitedly recalled at the time. “I said, ‘Why not? Let me give it a shot.'”
Explaining he didn’t even have to audition, the Iranian-born actor said: “It was a direct book. A good friend of mine was working on the music video at the time. They told the casting director to cast this guy and then they sent my pictures to [Britney] and she picked it. ‘I want this guy’ — and so that’s how it was.”

In September 2021, Britney announced her engagement to Sam.
Sharing the news via Instagram, the singer shared a video of her diamond ring, and wrote: “I can’t f***ing believe it 💍💍💍💍💍💍❣️!!!!!!”
A source told E! News that Sam popped the question at Britney’s house, taking her by surprise.
The insider said: “They have been talking about getting engaged for a while now and Sam totally threw her off today at her house. She was so taken back, she screamed.”

April 2022
In April 2022, Britney announced she and Sam were expecting their first child together.
The mother-of-two shared the news via Instagram, writing: “I lost so much weight to go on my Maui trip only to gain it back 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️… I thought “Geez… what happened to my stomach ???” My husband said “’No you’re food pregnant silly 🤪 !!!’”

Just one month later, Britney and Sam announced the loss of their baby in a heartbreaking post.
In a joint statement, the couple wrote: “It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that we have lost our miracle baby early in the pregnancy.”
“This is a devasting time for any parent. Perhaps we should have waited to announce until we were further along however we were overly excited to share the good news. Our love for each other is our strength.”
“We will continue trying to expand our beautiful family. We are grateful for all of your support. We kindly ask for privacy during this difficult moment.”
June 2022
Britney and Sam tied the knot on June 9, 2022.
The couple exchanged vows at the singer’s home in Los Angeles in front of 60 guests – which included some famous faces.
Fashion mogul Donnatella Versace was spotted amongst guests, whom Britney had previously teased designed her wedding look.
Drew Barrymore, Maria Menounos and Paris Hilton were also in attendance, along with Paris’ mother Kathy Hilton.
Madonna, who Britney famously kissed at the 2003 VMAs, stepped out at the star’s wedding too.
Other famous faces including Zendaya, Selena Gomez, Kate Hudson and Gwyneth Paltrow were also said to have been in attendance.
August 2023
In August, TMZ reported that Britney and Sam had separated after a year of marriage.
According to the outlet, Sam confronted Britney over rumours she was allegedly unfaithful to him, which resulted in a major argument between them.
TMZ later reported that Sam filed paperwork to legally separate from Britney on August 16, after just 14 months of marriage.
In the documents, the Iranian-born actor listed their date of separation as July 28, 2023 and cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split.
Taking to his Instagram Stories on August 17, Sam wrote: “After 6 years of love and commitment to each other, my wife and I have decided to end our journey together.”
“We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other, and I wish her the best always.”
“S**t happens,” Sam bluntly stated. “Asking for privacy seems ridiculous, so I will just ask for everyone including media to be kind and thoughtful.”
Britney has yet to address her split from Sam.
