Baz Ashmawy won’t be taking over from Jennifer Zamparelli on 2FM, despite odds in his favour.
Jennifer announced her departure from her week day show on Thursday evening, revealing she wanted to spend more time with her young children.
As soon as the news broke, people were taking bets on who could take the reins, with Baz reportedly top choice.
However, a well-placed source has told Goss.ie that he won’t be replacing the Dancing With The Stars co-host.
”It won’t be Baz,” the insider admitted.
”Baz is devoted to his TV show DIY SOS and has other projects ongoing including his new TV series Faithless, he won’t be returning to 2FM.”
The popular TV presenter previously hosted a weekend breakfast show with Lucy Kennedy on the station, but the pair were shockingly dropped from the station back in 2012.
Other names mentioned so far include Brian Dowling and Sile Seoige. However no star is yet to sign on to replace Jennifer just yet.
Radio insiders have told Goss.ie that bosses “had no idea” if Jennifer was going to return or not from her extended leave, and only learned the news of her departure this week.
