Aisling O’Loughlin was forced to take her maternity leave early after picking up a nasty illness.
The TV3 star, who is already mum to Patrick (4) and Louis (2), put down her Xposé microphone after she was struck down with a chest infection and was prescribed antibiotics by a consultant.
“I just couldn’t breathe properly with it, and I couldn’t really talk either so I just decided enough was enough,” she told the Herald.
“I really wasn’t well and I’m still getting over it, to be honest, so I decided to go off in the middle of last week and I’m on the mend now.

“I’m feeling fine apart from the hormonal fluctuations that come with being pregnant,” she admitted.
Despite her woes, Aisling admitted she’s really looking forward to welcoming her little boy into the world with her photographer partner Nick MacInnes on May 11 with a scheduled C-section.
“I can’t wait to meet him. It’s amazing thinking, ‘Who’s in there, what do you look like?’ You just don’t know who you’re making’.
“It’s also nice to be finally on maternity leave and get some stuff done about the house and spend time with the boys before the new baby comes,” she said.

Aisling also took the time to wish her maternity replacement Cassie Stokes the best of luck as she takes on Aisling’s role on Xposé.
“She’s a real trooper and very into journalism and is really dedicated. She’s a good girl,” she said.
Meanwhile, Aisling is currently recuperating at her home in Wicklow as she gets closer to her due date, which she admitted is a nice break away from the intensity of Xposé.
“The show can be quite intense, so it’s nice to get off the merry-go-round once in a while,” she added.
