Ryan Gosling ‘in talks’ to portray Ken in live-action Barbie film

Ryan Gosling is reportedly in talks to portray Ken in a live-action Barbie film.

According to Deadline, the Hollywood hunk is in final negotiations to play Barbie’s boyfriend opposite Margot Robbie – who will portray the iconic Mattel doll.

Warner Bros. has partnered with Mattel for the project, which will be directed by critically-acclaimed filmmaker Greta Gerwig.

Production is expected to kick off in early 2022.

On top of playing Barbie, Margot will also produce the upcoming movie.

Back in 2019, the chairman of Warner Bros. Toby Emmerich said: “This project is a great start to our partnership with Ynon Kreiz and Mattel Films.”

“And Margot is the ideal producer and actress to bring Barbie to life on screen in a fresh and relevant way for today’s audiences.”

In a statement at the time, Margot added: “Playing with Barbie promotes confidence, curiosity and communication throughout a child’s journey to self-discovery.”

“Over the brand’s almost 60 years, Barbie has empowered kids to imagine themselves in aspirational roles from a princess to president.”

“I’m so honored to take on this role and produce a film that I believe will have a tremendously positive impact on children and audiences worldwide. I can’t imagine better partners than Warner Bros. and Mattel to bring this film to the big screen.”
