Legendary soap star signs up for I’m A Celebrity

He's already been tipped as an early favourite

Shane Richie has reportedly signed up for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

According to The Sun, the EastEnders star has finally agreed to take part in this year’s series – and will go into isolation for two weeks before they start filming next month.

A source said: “ITV have always wanted Shane for the jungle but with panto not happening this year and other work opportunities less likely, he decided this was the time to take the plunge.”

“Going to North Wales is less of a huge commitment than flying halfway across the world, too, so he jumped at the chance.”

“He’s already being talked about by production as an early favourite as he’s such a likeable bloke and known to millions of soap fans.”

Shane is best known for his role as Alfie Moon in EastEnders.

The 56-year-old joins an already star-studded line-up, including Olympian Mo Farah, TV presenter Vernon Kay, West End star Ruthie Henshall, tenor Russell Watson, paralympian Holly Arnold, broadcaster Victoria Derbyshire, Coronation Street star Beverley Callard, Strictly Come Dancing pro AJ Pritchard, and EastEnders actress Jessica Plummer.

The series is expected to kick off on November 15, and will be filmed in the UK for the first time ever due to the coronavirus pandemic.

This year’s camp will be based on the grounds of spooky Grwych Castle in North Wales.
