Shane Lynch reveals the reason he WON’T move back to Ireland

Shane Lynch has revealed the reason that he won’t be moving back to Ireland.

The Boyzone star admitted that he and his family were planning on returning home a few years ago, but he “changed his mind” after totting up the Vehicle Registration Tax cost on his car collection.

“I was going to come back to live in Ireland a few years ago,” he told The Sun. “Myself, my wife Sheena and our two kids.

“It was all going great until I looked at how much it would cost to bring my car collection back with me.”

The VRT must be paid on all cars imported to Ireland before they can be registered in the country, and is based on a percentage of the recommended retail price.

“I changed my mind. They were looking for a million euro off me in VRT for my cars. That put me right off living in Ireland again.

“I went through all my cars, and once I’d totted it up, it came to a million euro. That’s what it was going to cost me to come back to Ireland — before I’d even bought a house, never mind a garage or a barn to put them all in. No way!

“So that idea of coming back to Ireland went out the window pretty quick.”

“I usually have ten cars on the go,” he admitted, “I don’t have a favourite — each one brings me a different sort of pleasure. I got my driving test at 17 and I’ve loved every moment on the road since.”

Shane married backing singer Sheena back in 2007, and the couple share two daughters – Billie, 11, and Marley, 7.

Last month, Shane told The Sun that he had moved back in with his family – after announcing he had split with Sheena and moved out of their family home back in April.

“We are just going to work on our relationship, because relationships need to be worked on,” he said.
