Sonia O’Sullivan’s daughter Sophie won a silver medal in the 800m at the European U18 Championships last night and people have been welling up watching her mum cheer her on.
Her nerves are palpable in the sweet video which shows the proud parent watching her daughter finish strong to land in second place.
Like her mother, Sophie is a seriously talented athlete and she looks pretty happy about that medal if this photo is anything to go by.
Recognise the name? Recognise the face?

The race was Sophie’s international debut for Ireland.
As well as the silver medal she also had the fastest personal best of those in her heat.
This gal looks like she’ll go far.

Think being an athlete is nerve-wracking? Being the parent of an athlete is even more nerve-wracking!
