TXFM, one of Dublin’s much-loved alternative rock stations, will stop airing tonight.

News broke in March that the station had not applied to have its broadcasting licence renewed, meaning it would have to go off air this month.

The station was previously known as Phantom 105.2 since 1996 – which was originally a pirate station before getting a permanent licence in 2006 – and underwent a rebranding in 2014.

Today is the very last day that the station will be in operation, with TXFM officially going off air at 8pm tonight.
