EXCLUSIVE: Ronan Keating's film debut made just €436 in its first week of release

Ronan Keating’s movie debut has utterly bombed in Ireland – making just €436 in its first week.

The Boyzone star and film producers decided against hosting a screening of Australian flick Goddess for Irish critics.

Now newly-released figures obtained by Goss.ie show that the flick – in which Ronan flashes his bum – didn’t even make €500 in Ireland.

Figures from Rentrak show it made just €1,020 (£811) when combined with cinemas from the UK.

It is claimed a lot of this is due to audiences not knowing the film, which was only being screened in three cinemas, was on despite the star promoting it previously at the Cannes Film Festival.

By comparison, Mrs Brown’s Boys D’Movie made €542,065 last week in Ireland despite being released last month.

Critics said that Dubliner Ronan was overshadowed by his co-stars in the film, which he spent years training to star in.

“I’ve been trying to act for 12 years. I’ve got knock-backs constantly,” he previously explained.

“I’ve been to auditions, they didn’t want me and I just don’t think I was good enough. I tried and tried and tried and wasn’t ready.”

He will soon be back on the big screen as the singing voice of Postman Pat in a movie of the favourite children’s character.
