Anna Daly reveals she 'begged' TV3 bosses for her own show

Anna Daly has revealed that she “begged” TV3 bosses for her own show, and the begging definitely paid off.

The mum-of-two is currently fronting her weekend show Saturday AM and Sunday AM, but admitted that she had to work seriously hard to get there.

“Initially, when I suggested a weekend show, it was a ‘something for the weekend’ style show because I love those kinds of shows. And they told me, weekend telly is really expensive,” she said.

“So I had assumed that it was never going to happen because TV3 are all about costs and budgets and keeping things lean, but they’ve obviously changed their tune.

“I’m really enjoying it, it’s going really well. I begged them to give me that opportunity so I have to grab it,” she told the Herald.

“It’s a little bit of adjustment, but a really nice one, and it gives me a little bit of balance at home early in the week and into work later in the week.”

While the TV3 star is loving hosting her own show, she admitted that she does have to make some sacrifices to fulfil her dream.

“On a Friday and Saturday night when people are in the space of ‘Who’s coming on the p**s?’, that’s not an option for me unless there’s a big occasion,” she explained.

“In saying that, I can have a glass of wine. It’s not Ireland AM hours. The kids are up on a Saturday morning when I’m leaving anyway, so the world is alive.

“I feel different to the way I would have on Ireland AM, where you’re leaving in the middle of the night,” she added.
