Goss Media are excited to announce Sarah-Emma Hughes as our debut Commercial Director.
As we approach our fourth birthday this June, we are delighted to reveal Sarah-Emma has joined the team, straight from her role as Sales Manager in Deliveroo Ireland.
Goss Founder and CEO Ali Ryan said she was excited to add Sarah-Emma to the team, in what’s set to be a game-changing year for the company.
“Goss.ie turns four years old this June, which is hard to believe and it’s the perfect time to mark a new chapter for our company,” she said.
“In four years we have grown and changed hugely, and I’m more excited about the company now than I’ve ever been before.
“I did have an offer to sell the company just before Christmas but I decided that we have a lot more work to do. I walked away from a million euro deal because I felt we have a lot more to do not only in Ireland but in LA and soon in other cities too.
“It wasn’t an easy decision to make and this was our fourth offer to date to be bought. It’s great to see we’re clearly doing something right that our competitors and other media brands are interested in us, but we have so many new things coming to the forefront over the next 12 months, now is the time to push forward and expand.
“I left my job as a journalist at the age of 24 to pursue a dream, to create content that no one else has and to create the biggest and best showbiz news site in the country and to rival some of the best sites in Hollywood…I’m not finished yet.
“I am really excited to welcome Sarah-Emma to Goss Media as our first Commercial Director. From working on the ground with Deliveroo UK when they were just a start up, to moving to Ireland to become their Sales Manager as the company expanded, Sarah-Emma has a wealth of experience in corporate sales and brand partnerships.
“I have been looking for over a year now to find the perfect person to lead our commercial department, and I’m delighted we found Sarah-Emma.
“We have switched our focus from traditional advertising to unique content and events. Every site can offer banner ads, competitions, we’re honing in on special content only we can offer clients in this country and around the world.
“We had our third year of The Gossies in February and it was our best year to date, we’re already looking to double the size of the event for next year. And we will be announcing some new Goss events this summer.
“We’re also working with lots of brands to help get them off the ground and improve their brand awareness, looking after everything from their content to social media – with our in-house creative agency CREATE.
“Our video department is expanding and this summer we’re moving hugely into productions. We already have our showbiz show The Daily Goss, but we will be releasing new documentaries and one-off specials, featuring celebrities and influencers.
“We’re finally releasing our own podcast too, so we’re putting a lot of our efforts into broadcast and productions.”
Speaking about her new role, Sarah-Emma said she is excited to kick start a new phase for the company.
“Goss as a company relates to young women in Ireland, with an in-depth understanding of where the core interests lie allowing us to utilise the readership with have and become the best route to consumer for brands which is something I’m excited to elevate.
“The brand has gone from strength to strength over the past four years. With my wide-ranging experience in start-up’s, most recently Deliveroo, I’m thrilled to be part of the team. We have an enormous opportunity, so I have ambitious plans redevelop & grow the commercial offering we have for clients.
“Commercial space is changing, with positive brand association, influencers, and consumer reviews holding more weight than ever before.
“Goss has a direct line to, and, understanding of young women in Ireland, with a unique ability to influence, making us the best platform for brands to reach the Irish female market,” she added.
