Artist of the Year 2023

The second Goss.ie Women of the Year Awards will take place on Sunday, October 1st, at The Royal Marine Hotel in Dun Laoghaire, with well-known broadcaster and entrepreneur Gráinne Seoige as host.

The star-studded event will honour women across multiple genres, including business, sports, the arts, social justice and more.

We have also launched two people’s choice awards, including a ‘Local Hero’ category, where Goss.ie readers can nominate local women in their area who have contributed to their communities; as well as ‘Local Businesswoman’ where readers can vote for women in business in their locality.

This year the awards are in partnership with Google, Catrice Cosmetics, Gym Plus, Local Enterprise Office and Xin Gin.

Women’s Aid is our official charity partner for 2023 once again, and we will also be running a charity raffle on the day to raise funds for the charity.

Our highly-esteemed and all-female judging panel will decide the winners of each category.

The Artist of the Year category, sponsored by Catrice Cosmetics, is bursting with incredible talent once again this year.

Whether they’re topping the charts or drawing huge crowds at festivals, these women are all killing it in the entertainment industry.

Take a look at this year’s nominees:

RuthAnne

RuthAnne Cunningham is the mastermind behind a host of chart-topping singles, which you may not have realised until now.

The Dublin native got her start in the music industry in 2010 after signing to Sony ATV as a songwriter and producer, and has since co-written a number of hit songs – including JoJo’s Too Little Too Late, Niall Horan’s Slow Hands, and Westlife’s Beautiful World.

In 2018, the songstress released her first single The Vow, which has become a favourite of Love Island couple Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury.

Although it was released five years prior, the song saw a huge surge in popularity earlier this year after it played an integral role in the couple’s lavish engagement.

As the professional boxer got down on one knee in Ibiza, the Grammy-nominated artist, who spearheaded Irish Women in Harmony, sang The Vow for them live.

Jazzy

Jazzy is making waves in the music industry.

The Dublin native first came to attention in 2020 as a member of the band Powerful Creative Minds, and the following year featured as lead vocals on Belters Only’s hit track Make Me Feel Good.

The Irish-Jamaican singer made history in May when her single Giving Me hit No.1 in the Irish charts, making her the first female artist to claim the position in 14 years – which also made her the first Irish woman to reach No.1 on Spotify since its inception in 2012.

Jazzy released her latest single Feel It earlier this year.

Lyra

Lyra is best known for distinguishable voice, as well as her stylish fashion choices.

The Cork native launched her debut EP W.I.L.D back in 2016, and subsequently signed with Polydor Records and Universal Music the following year.

Throughout her career, the songstress has supported a number of huge acts on tour, including Westlife and P!nk, and has dominated the festival scene.

In March, the 30-year-old released her latest single YOU, which has over 314,000 listens on Spotify.

Erica Cody

Erica Cody continues to add strings to her multi-talented bow.

The Dublin native has been singing from the age of 16, and has since released a host of hit songs including Back to Basics, Good Intentions, and Love Like This to name a few.

Last year, Erica came runner-up on Dancing with the Stars with her partner Denys Samson, and later made her presenting debut on RTÉ’s The Main Stage alongside The Coronas’ Danny O’Reilly.

The 27-year-old, who is a proud member of Irish Women in Harmony, released her latest single Cry Baby in February, which she performed at this year’s Rose of Tralee International Festival.

CMAT

Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson, who performs as CMAT, is a popular singer-songwriter from Meath.

Her debut album If My Wife New I’d Be Dead won Irish Album of the Year at the RTÉ Choice Music Prize Awards in 2022, and her star has continued to rise since then.

The 27-year-old won huge praise after performing at Glastonbury earlier this year, and she’s since sold out three dates at the Dublin’s 3Olympia theatre.

CMAT is set to release her sophomore album Crazymad, For Me in October.
