WATCH: Bono accepts Glamour’s first ever Man of the Year award

Bono is the first man to win Glamour’s Man of the Year award.

In his empowering acceptance speech, the Dubliner poked fun at how the Internet took his winning of what is usually Glamour’s Woman of the Year award.

“If I didn’t know how ridiculous it was, I did have the blessed internet to remind me. I kept some of the best ones,” he said.

The rockstar even took out his phone and read some Internet comments, “Out of all the women alive Bono is my favourite. It’s just so inspiring how she overcame the adversity of being a millionaire white dude”, he read.

Another one read, “It’s so important that our daughters understand that they can grow up to be Bono.”

The U2 frontman focused his speech around gender equality, “There’s a large part of me that reckons if I could someday be worthy of this award, this faith you have placed in me this evening, then I might become the man that I aspire to be, rather than the man I’ve settled for.”
